Parking, stairs & setup
Lakewood is one of the easiest cities we serve: wide streets, driveways for the chef's truck, and side gates that clear our grill cart. The one thing to check is the patio cover. Most are lower than the 10 ft of clearance the grill needs, so the chef sets up just beyond the cover's edge and your guests sit under it.
Summer evenings here stay warm past sunset, which makes a 6 or 7 pm start ideal from June through September; in the cooler months a lunch or mid-afternoon party works well. We need a flat area about the size of a king-size bed on concrete or packed ground, and we bring a mat for anything else.
Not sure your space works? Send a photo with your quote request and we will confirm the setup spot before your date.
Space & weather plan
We need a flat outdoor area about the size of a king-size bed and about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Best evening months in Lakewood: April through November; best lunch months: April through June and October through November.
July averages a high of 88°F against 65°F in January. No month here averages above 93°F, so Lakewood takes daytime bookings comfortably across most of the year. Rain is worth planning around in March, when about 27% of days see measurable rain — a 10×10 pop-up tent over the chef station saves the party, and guests can eat indoors. Evenings run longest in June (sunset around 8:05pm); start 90 minutes before sunset for the golden-hour show.
Travel: none for Lakewood — it sits inside our free 50-mile radius, so your quote carries no travel fee at all.

What we actually buy
Beef: USDA Choice Angus top sirloin. Choice is the grade above Select. We buy Angus program beef rather than whatever is cheapest that week.
Shrimp: BAP-certified. Best Aquaculture Practices — an independent certification covering the farm, the hatchery, the feed and the processing plant.
Salmon: Atlantic salmon fillet, skinless. Portioned fillet, not trim or belly offcuts.
Chicken: Boneless, skinless breast. Hatched, raised and harvested in the USA. Breast meat only — no thigh substitution.
Lobster tail: Wild-caught Caribbean spiny lobster. Our premium upgrade. Wild-caught, not farmed.
Sauces: Terry Ho’s yum yum sauce and Japanese ginger dressing. The ones you already recognise from the restaurant. Both contain egg.
Allergies: Our standard soy sauce is not gluten free, so a gluten-free guest should have their own gluten-free soy and teriyaki on hand and we'll cook their portion with it. We can't promise a nut- or sesame-free table — the sauces and gyoza are commercial products, the gyoza contain sesame, and one sauce is made in a plant that also handles peanuts. Tell us the allergy when you book and we'll check the labels in use for your date.
Popular Lakewood parties
Kids' & Teen Birthdays. The onion volcano and the egg toss are the party. Ten kids and their parents at one long table, and nobody has to book a restaurant room.
Graduations. Lakewood High, Mayfair, and St. Joseph families in June, with grandparents in from out of town and a yard that finally gets used.
Family Reunions & Sunday Dinners. Filipino, Mexican, and multi-generation families who would otherwise cook for two days. The chef does it in front of everyone in ninety minutes.
Retirement & Anniversary Parties. Milestones for people who have lived on the same block for decades, celebrated at the house with the neighbors invited.
See how each celebration plays out: birthdays, pool parties, family reunions and more party ideas.
Where we set up in Lakewood
Classic Ranch Backyards. Flat, fenced, and deep. A long table down the middle, the grill on the concrete at one end, and room for twenty-five without touching the lawn.
Under-the-Patio-Cover Homes. Most Lakewood patios have an aluminum cover about 8 ft up. We set the grill just past its edge, where there is 10 ft of open air, and the table stays in the shade.
Country Club-Adjacent Lots. The larger properties around Lakewood Country Club hold thirty comfortably, often with a pool deck that becomes the dining room.
Why Lakewood hosts book us
Lakewood was built for backyard parties. The postwar lots are flat, fenced, and deep, the patios are already poured, and the neighbors on both sides have hosted the same kind of night. A hibachi chef setting up past the patio cover and feeding twenty people is about as natural a use of a Lakewood yard as there is.
We cook throughout Lakewood, Bellflower, Paramount, Hawaiian Gardens, Signal Hill, and the Long Beach side of the 605. Flat rate $59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, and kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum, setup and cleanup included, and no travel fee.
Lakewood hibachi FAQ
Is there a travel fee to Lakewood?
No. Lakewood, Bellflower, and Paramount all sit inside our free 50-mile radius, so your quote carries no travel fee.
Our patio has a cover. Where does the chef cook?
Just past the edge of the cover, where there is open air above the grill. Your table stays under the cover in the shade, and the chef is a few feet away in full view.
Can you do a party of 20 to 30?
Yes. One chef serves up to 28 guests, and a second chef and grill come for larger groups so everyone eats at once. Lakewood yards hold that many easily.
What does hibachi at home cost in Lakewood?
$59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, and kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum — chef, grill, 2 proteins per guest, garlic fried rice, vegetables, salad, the live show, setup, and cleanup included. Weekday Special pricing ($54.90/adult, Mon–Thu, any party size) applies here too.
How much space do you need in Lakewood?
A flat area about the size of a king-size bed for the grill plus roughly 10 ft of overhead clearance, in open air — a patio, deck, driveway, or yard all work. Enclosed rooms and covered balconies do not. Send a photo when you book and we'll confirm the setup spot before your date.
Is this an indoor or outdoor party?
The cooking is outdoors; the eating does not have to be. A live teppanyaki grill throws real smoke and grease and will set off a smoke alarm indoors, so the grill always stays outside — on a patio, deck, driveway, yard, or roof terrace, with about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Your guests can absolutely sit and eat inside. Plenty of Lakewood parties run exactly that way: the chef cooks on the patio and plates come indoors, which is what we'd suggest on a hot afternoon or a cold night.
Can we book a lunch or daytime slot?
Yes. Because the party is outdoors, the right answer depends on your city and the season — midday stays comfortable near the coast for most of the year, while inland and Valley cities are best at lunch roughly October through May and better at sunset in high summer. Daytime slots are usually easier to get than weekend evenings. Tell us your date and preferred time and we'll tell you honestly whether it works.
What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours before your event at no cost. Inside 72 hours we may not be able to refund in full. If rain is the problem, a 10'x10' pop-up tent over the chef's station usually saves the party — you provide the tent, we do not supply them — and guests can eat indoors while the chef cooks outside.
