La Quinta details

Parking, stairs & setup

This end of the valley runs even hotter than Palm Springs. From May through September we cook after sunset — the patio is genuinely pleasant once the sun is down, and the fire show is better in the dark anyway. From October through April a lunch or late-afternoon booking on the patio is one of the best things about the desert. La Quinta is well past our free 50-mile radius, so a travel fee applies and is shown upfront in your quote.

Almost every rental here is behind a gate: put the chef's name on the guest list or send the gate code ahead of the party. We need a level spot about 6x8 ft with roughly 10 ft of clearance — a patio pad or pool deck well clear of the water is ideal. The chef brings everything and takes everything away; your rental's kitchen stays clean.

Not sure your space works? Send a photo with your quote request and we will confirm the setup spot before your date.

What we actually buy

Beef: USDA Choice Angus top sirloin. Choice is the grade above Select. We buy Angus program beef rather than whatever is cheapest that week.

Shrimp: BAP-certified. Best Aquaculture Practices — an independent certification covering the farm, the hatchery, the feed and the processing plant.

Salmon: Atlantic salmon fillet, skinless. Portioned fillet, not trim or belly offcuts.

Chicken: Boneless, skinless breast. Hatched, raised and harvested in the USA. Breast meat only — no thigh substitution.

Lobster tail: Wild-caught Caribbean spiny lobster. Our premium upgrade. Wild-caught, not farmed.

Sauces: Terry Ho’s yum yum sauce and Japanese ginger dressing. The ones you already recognise from the restaurant. Both contain egg.

Allergies: Our standard soy sauce is not gluten free, so a gluten-free guest should have their own gluten-free soy and teriyaki on hand and we'll cook their portion with it. We can't promise a nut- or sesame-free table — the sauces and gyoza are commercial products, the gyoza contain sesame, and one sauce is made in a plant that also handles peanuts. Tell us the allergy when you book and we'll check the labels in use for your date.

Popular La Quinta parties

Coachella & Stagecoach Houses. Festival weekends in April, when every restaurant in the valley is slammed. One real dinner at the house between festival days — book these dates early.

Golf Trip Dinners. Eight to sixteen people in a PGA West rental after 36 holes. The chef cooks on the patio; nobody has to change out of golf clothes.

Birthday Villa Weekends. Milestone birthdays at country-club rentals — the pool by day, a fire show at sunset, the mountains turning pink.

Spring-Break Family Rentals. Multi-family trips in March and April. Kids at the grill for the egg toss, adults at the table, one bill.

See how each celebration plays out: birthdays, pool parties, family reunions and more party ideas.

Where we set up in La Quinta

PGA West & Country-Club Villas. Gated communities with patios facing the fairway. The chef's name goes on the gate list and the show sets up on the patio pad.

Cove & Old Town Rentals. The walkable La Quinta Cove houses and rentals near Old Town — backyards with mountain views and room for a crowd.

Festival Compounds in Indio & Coachella. The big April houses that sleep the whole group. Late-afternoon start, dinner before the shuttle.

Why La Quinta hosts book us

La Quinta is the east end of the Coachella Valley: PGA West villas, country-club rentals, and the houses that fill up every April for Coachella and Stagecoach. Groups come for golf, festivals, and spring break, and by the second night nobody wants to drive to Old Town for a table. A private hibachi chef on the patio is the answer — dinner and the entertainment in one booking, with the Santa Rosa Mountains behind the show.

We come to La Quinta, Indian Wells, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indio, Coachella, and Bermuda Dunes. $59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum, and the desert travel fee is calculated from your address and shown in your quote before you pay anything.

La Quinta hibachi FAQ

Do you come to La Quinta and Indian Wells?

Yes — we come to La Quinta, Indian Wells, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indio, Coachella, and Bermuda Dunes. It is past our free 50 miles, so a travel fee applies at $1 per additional mile, calculated from your address and shown in your instant quote.

Can you cook at our Coachella rental?

Yes. Festival weekends are the busiest dates in the valley, so book early. We need a level outdoor spot about 6x8 ft with clearance above it, and we work around your shuttle times.

What does hibachi at a La Quinta rental cost?

$59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, kids under 5 eat free, with a $599 event minimum — chef, grill, food, live show, setup, and cleanup included — plus the travel fee shown in your quote. Monday–Thursday parties with 15+ guests get the $45.90/adult Weekday Special.

How do gated communities work?

Add the chef's name to the guest list or send us the gate code before the party. The chef arrives about ten minutes early, sets up on the patio, and is gone after cleanup.

How much space do you need in La Quinta?

About a 6x8 ft flat area for the grill plus roughly 10 ft of overhead clearance, in open air — a patio, deck, driveway, or yard all work. Enclosed rooms and covered balconies do not. Send a photo when you book and we'll confirm the setup spot before your date.

Is this an indoor or outdoor party?

The cooking is outdoors; the eating does not have to be. A live teppanyaki grill throws real smoke and grease and will set off a smoke alarm indoors, so the grill always stays outside — on a patio, deck, driveway, yard, or roof terrace, with about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Your guests can absolutely sit and eat inside. Plenty of La Quinta parties run exactly that way: the chef cooks on the patio and plates come indoors, which is what we'd suggest on a hot afternoon or a cold night.

Can we book a lunch or daytime slot?

Yes. Because the party is outdoors, the right answer depends on your city and the season — midday stays comfortable near the coast for most of the year, while inland and Valley cities are best at lunch roughly October through May and better at sunset in high summer. Daytime slots are usually easier to get than weekend evenings. Tell us your date and preferred time and we'll tell you honestly whether it works.

What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?

Cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours before your event and your $19.90 deposit is refunded in full. Inside 72 hours the deposit may become non-refundable. If rain is the problem, a 10'x10' pop-up tent over the chef's station usually saves the party — you provide the tent, we do not supply them — and guests can eat indoors while the chef cooks outside.
