Joshua Tree details
Parking, stairs & setup
Joshua Tree is a real drive from our base — well past the free 50 miles — so a travel fee applies and is shown upfront in your quote. Spring afternoons can be windy out here; an evening start after the wind drops is the better slot, and it is also when the fire show looks best. Winter nights get cold fast once the sun is down, so if your rental has a patio heater or a firepit, plan on it. Summer runs hot through the afternoon and comfortable after sunset.
Most addresses out here are dirt roads and cabins without numbers you can see from the street. Send the exact map pin, the gate or lockbox details, and where the chef can park, and we will find you. The chef brings the grill, the food, the tables for the show, and takes every bit of it away again — your rental looks the way you found it.
Not sure your space works? Send a photo with your quote request and we will confirm the setup spot before your date.
What we actually buy
Beef: USDA Choice Angus top sirloin. Choice is the grade above Select. We buy Angus program beef rather than whatever is cheapest that week.
Shrimp: BAP-certified. Best Aquaculture Practices — an independent certification covering the farm, the hatchery, the feed and the processing plant.
Salmon: Atlantic salmon fillet, skinless. Portioned fillet, not trim or belly offcuts.
Chicken: Boneless, skinless breast. Hatched, raised and harvested in the USA. Breast meat only — no thigh substitution.
Lobster tail: Wild-caught Caribbean spiny lobster. Our premium upgrade. Wild-caught, not farmed.
Sauces: Terry Ho’s yum yum sauce and Japanese ginger dressing. The ones you already recognise from the restaurant. Both contain egg.
Allergies: Our standard soy sauce is not gluten free, so a gluten-free guest should have their own gluten-free soy and teriyaki on hand and we'll cook their portion with it. We can't promise a nut- or sesame-free table — the sauces and gyoza are commercial products, the gyoza contain sesame, and one sauce is made in a plant that also handles peanuts. Tell us the allergy when you book and we'll check the labels in use for your date.
Popular Joshua Tree parties
Bachelorette & Girls' Weekends. A rental with a hot tub, a chef show at sunset, and the whole group in one place — dinner, entertainment, and the photos handled in one booking.
Birthday Cabin Weekends. The milestone birthday where twelve friends rent a compound for two nights. The hibachi night is the one everyone plans the trip around.
Stargazing Dinner Parties. Fire show at dusk, then the grill goes quiet and the sky takes over. Nowhere else we serve has a backdrop like this.
Small Wedding Weekends. Elopements and micro-weddings at desert venues and rentals — a welcome dinner or rehearsal night with a show instead of trays.
See how each celebration plays out: birthdays, pool parties, family reunions and more party ideas.
Where we set up in Joshua Tree
Desert Cabins & Homesteads. Fenced yards, gravel pads, and a lot of sky. The grill sets up on any level 6x8 ft spot; dirt and gravel are fine.
Rental Compounds with Pools. The larger properties off Highway 62 that sleep twelve to twenty — decks, pools, and firepits that already expect a crowd.
Pioneertown-Area Ranches. Ranch houses and event properties near Pioneertown where the party is outside by design.
Why Joshua Tree hosts book us
Joshua Tree is the most rented stretch of desert in Southern California: cabins, homesteads, and compounds full of groups who came for the sky and have no plans to cook. A private hibachi chef turns one of those nights into the dinner everyone talks about — the grill on the gravel pad, the fire show against a sky with no light pollution, and nobody in the kitchen.
We come to Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, Twentynine Palms, Pioneertown, Landers, and Morongo Valley. Same published price as everywhere else — $59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum — and the travel fee for the drive out is calculated from your address and shown in your quote before you pay anything.
Joshua Tree hibachi FAQ
Do you come to Joshua Tree?
Yes — we come to Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, Twentynine Palms, Pioneertown, Landers, and Morongo Valley. It is past our free 50-mile radius, so a travel fee applies at $1 per additional mile, calculated from your address and shown in your instant quote.
Can you cook at our Joshua Tree rental?
Yes. We need a level outdoor spot about 6x8 ft with roughly 10 ft of clearance — a gravel pad, patio, or yard all work. We bring the grill, the food, and everything for the show, and we clean up before we leave.
What does hibachi at a Joshua Tree rental cost?
$59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, kids under 5 eat free, with a $599 event minimum — chef, grill, food, live show, setup, and cleanup included — plus the travel fee shown in your quote. Monday–Thursday parties with 15+ guests get the $45.90/adult Weekday Special.
Is winter too cold for an outdoor hibachi dinner?
Desert winter days are mild; nights drop quickly. Book a late-afternoon start so the cooking happens in daylight and the fire show lands right at dusk, and put your rental's heaters or firepit to work for the rest of the evening.
How much space do you need in Joshua Tree?
About a 6x8 ft flat area for the grill plus roughly 10 ft of overhead clearance, in open air — a patio, deck, driveway, or yard all work. Enclosed rooms and covered balconies do not. Send a photo when you book and we'll confirm the setup spot before your date.
Is this an indoor or outdoor party?
The cooking is outdoors; the eating does not have to be. A live teppanyaki grill throws real smoke and grease and will set off a smoke alarm indoors, so the grill always stays outside — on a patio, deck, driveway, yard, or roof terrace, with about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Your guests can absolutely sit and eat inside. Plenty of Joshua Tree parties run exactly that way: the chef cooks on the patio and plates come indoors, which is what we'd suggest on a hot afternoon or a cold night.
Can we book a lunch or daytime slot?
Yes. Because the party is outdoors, the right answer depends on your city and the season — midday stays comfortable near the coast for most of the year, while inland and Valley cities are best at lunch roughly October through May and better at sunset in high summer. Daytime slots are usually easier to get than weekend evenings. Tell us your date and preferred time and we'll tell you honestly whether it works.
What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours before your event and your $19.90 deposit is refunded in full. Inside 72 hours the deposit may become non-refundable. If rain is the problem, a 10'x10' pop-up tent over the chef's station usually saves the party — you provide the tent, we do not supply them — and guests can eat indoors while the chef cooks outside.
