Who books hibachi catering
Trays of lukewarm food are catering. A chef cooking live with fire, games, and a crowd around the grill is an event.
Big group? That's the point. One chef serves up to ~25 guests with the full show; larger events get a second chef and grill so every table has a front row. Tell us the headcount and we bring the right crew.
Corporate & team events Office parties, launch dinners, wrap parties — a hibachi show is the team event people actually talk about after. Weekday dates get the $54.90/adult Weekday Special with a free appetizer of your choice (gyoza, edamame or spring rolls).
Milestones & celebrations Birthdays, graduations, showers, reunions — the chef builds the show around your moment. See our party ideas for how each occasion plays out.

Parking, stairs & setup
San Diego is the easiest weather city we serve and the hardest parking city outside LA proper. In Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, and downtown La Jolla the chef needs a spot within about a block to walk the grill and coolers in, so a driveway space or a held street spot saves fifteen minutes. Coronado and parts of La Jolla have permit-only blocks; if that is your street, tell us and we will plan around it.
Vacation rentals are a large share of our San Diego bookings, so check the listing before you book us: some Mission Beach and Ocean Beach rentals prohibit open-flame cooking, and a few Carmel Valley and Del Mar HOAs require cooking on a hard surface away from the structure. We need a flat area about the size of a king-size bed and about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Beach-facing decks with low pergolas are the one setup we occasionally have to move.
San Diego catering FAQ
How much does hibachi catering cost in San Diego?
$59.90 per adult and $29.90 per child (5–12), with a $599 event minimum — chef, 2 proteins per guest, veggies, fried rice, salad and the live show included. Monday–Thursday events get the $54.90/adult Weekday Special at any size, with a free appetizer of your choice (gyoza, edamame or spring rolls). The first 50 miles of travel are free; anything beyond is $1/mile, shown upfront in your quote.
How many guests can you cater?
One chef comfortably serves up to 28 guests. Bigger event? We bring additional chefs and grills so the show reaches every table — 50, 80, 100+ guests are all doable with notice. Tell us your headcount in the quote and we'll staff it right.
Do you cater at venues, offices, or rentals — or just homes?
Anywhere with an outdoor spot for the grill: backyards, rooftops, office patios, event venues, parks with permits, Airbnbs. We need a flat area about the size of a king-size bed with 10 ft of overhead clearance in open air. Guests can eat indoors while the chef cooks outside.
What do we need to provide?
Tables, chairs, and place settings — or add our tableware rental ($15/person: tables, chairs, tableware, tablecloth) and provide nothing. We bring the chef, grill, all food, and take everything away after.
How far ahead should we book?
Weekend evenings go first, so two to three weeks ahead is comfortable. Weekday corporate events can often be booked closer in. Cancel or reschedule 48+ hours out at no cost.
