Parking, stairs & setup

Hillside driveways in Sunny Hills are steep and long, so tell us where the chef can park for ten minutes to unload; after that the truck moves. Near downtown, weekend street parking fills up, and an alley or driveway spot for load-in saves time.

Summer evenings run warm and a 6:30 or 7 pm start works well from June through September. We need a flat area about the size of a king-size bed and roughly 10 ft of overhead clearance on hardscape or packed ground; for pavers or turf we bring a mat.

Not sure your space works? Send a photo with your quote request and we will confirm the setup spot before your date.

Space & weather plan

We need a flat outdoor area about the size of a king-size bed and about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Best evening months in Fullerton: April through November; best lunch months: April through June and October through November.

July averages a high of 85°F against 66°F in January. No month here averages above 93°F, so Fullerton takes daytime bookings comfortably across most of the year. Rain is worth planning around in March, when about 30% of days see measurable rain — a 10×10 pop-up tent over the chef station saves the party, and guests can eat indoors. Evenings run longest in June (sunset around 8:04pm); start 90 minutes before sunset for the golden-hour show.

Travel: none for Fullerton — it sits inside our free 50-mile radius, so your quote carries no travel fee at all.

What we actually buy

Beef: USDA Choice Angus top sirloin. Choice is the grade above Select. We buy Angus program beef rather than whatever is cheapest that week.

Shrimp: BAP-certified. Best Aquaculture Practices — an independent certification covering the farm, the hatchery, the feed and the processing plant.

Salmon: Atlantic salmon fillet, skinless. Portioned fillet, not trim or belly offcuts.

Chicken: Boneless, skinless breast. Hatched, raised and harvested in the USA. Breast meat only — no thigh substitution.

Lobster tail: Wild-caught Caribbean spiny lobster. Our premium upgrade. Wild-caught, not farmed.

Sauces: Terry Ho’s yum yum sauce and Japanese ginger dressing. The ones you already recognise from the restaurant. Both contain egg.

Allergies: Our standard soy sauce is not gluten free, so a gluten-free guest should have their own gluten-free soy and teriyaki on hand and we'll cook their portion with it. We can't promise a nut- or sesame-free table — the sauces and gyoza are commercial products, the gyoza contain sesame, and one sauce is made in a plant that also handles peanuts. Tell us the allergy when you book and we'll check the labels in use for your date.

Popular Fullerton parties

Cal State Fullerton & College Graduations. May and June, with the whole family in town and more guests than the house has chairs for. We bring tables and chairs if you need them.

Milestone Birthdays in Sunny Hills. Twenty-five friends on the pool deck, the fire show as the entertainment, and no private room to book downtown.

Engagement & Rehearsal Dinners. One long table, two proteins per guest, and a chef who runs the show so the couple can talk to people.

Family Reunions. Big hillside lots hold forty. Two chefs and two grills mean everyone eats at the same time instead of in shifts.

See how each celebration plays out: birthdays, pool parties, family reunions and more party ideas.

Where we set up in Fullerton

Sunny Hills & Coyote Hills Lots. Sloped lots with a pool deck or terrace as the flat surface. That is all the grill needs; the chef sets up at one end and the table runs along the pool.

Craftsman Backyards Near Downtown. Deep lots behind small houses, usually with a driveway pad or patio. Narrow side gates are fine; our grill cart clears 30 inches.

Amerige Heights Patios. Newer homes with covered patios and HOA rules. The chef cooks just past the cover's edge, the table stays in the shade, and an evening start clears quiet hours easily.

Why Fullerton hosts book us

Fullerton has the yards for it. Sunny Hills and the Coyote Hills streets sit on big sloped lots with pool decks, the craftsman blocks near downtown have deep backyards behind small houses, and the newer Amerige Heights homes have patios built for entertaining. A chef setting up in one spot and feeding everyone from there fits all three.

We cook throughout Fullerton, Brea, Placentia, La Habra, and Yorba Linda. Flat rate $59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, and kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum, setup and cleanup included, and no travel fee.

Fullerton hibachi FAQ

Is there a travel fee to Fullerton or Brea?

No. Fullerton, Brea, Placentia, La Habra, and Yorba Linda all sit inside our free 50-mile radius, so your quote carries no travel fee.

Our lot is on a slope. Can you still set up?

Yes, as long as there is one level spot about the size of a king-size bed with 10 ft of clearance above it. A pool deck, terrace, or driveway pad all work; guests sit where they like.

Can you serve 35 guests?

Yes. One chef serves up to 28 guests; larger parties get a second chef and grill so everyone eats together. Give us the count when you book and the quote reflects it.

What does hibachi at home cost in Fullerton?

$59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, and kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum — chef, grill, 2 proteins per guest, garlic fried rice, vegetables, salad, the live show, setup, and cleanup included. Weekday Special pricing ($54.90/adult, Mon–Thu, any party size) applies here too.

How much space do you need in Fullerton?

A flat area about the size of a king-size bed for the grill plus roughly 10 ft of overhead clearance, in open air — a patio, deck, driveway, or yard all work. Enclosed rooms and covered balconies do not. Send a photo when you book and we'll confirm the setup spot before your date.

Is this an indoor or outdoor party?

The cooking is outdoors; the eating does not have to be. A live teppanyaki grill throws real smoke and grease and will set off a smoke alarm indoors, so the grill always stays outside — on a patio, deck, driveway, yard, or roof terrace, with about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Your guests can absolutely sit and eat inside. Plenty of Fullerton parties run exactly that way: the chef cooks on the patio and plates come indoors, which is what we'd suggest on a hot afternoon or a cold night.

Can we book a lunch or daytime slot?

Yes. Because the party is outdoors, the right answer depends on your city and the season — midday stays comfortable near the coast for most of the year, while inland and Valley cities are best at lunch roughly October through May and better at sunset in high summer. Daytime slots are usually easier to get than weekend evenings. Tell us your date and preferred time and we'll tell you honestly whether it works.

What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?

Cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours before your event at no cost. Inside 72 hours we may not be able to refund in full. If rain is the problem, a 10'x10' pop-up tent over the chef's station usually saves the party — you provide the tent, we do not supply them — and guests can eat indoors while the chef cooks outside.
