Parking, stairs & setup
The mountain is a real drive from our base and past the free 50-mile radius, so a travel fee applies and is shown upfront in your quote. Big Bear sits at about 6,750 feet: the grill runs the same, the cook takes a little longer, and evenings are cold year-round once the sun is behind the ridge — an earlier start than you would book down the hill is the right call, and a heater on the deck helps. In winter, please make sure the deck or driveway spot where the chef will set up has been cleared of snow.
Cabin driveways are steep and parking is tight in the village neighborhoods, so tell us where the chef can park close to the setup spot. Everything for the party arrives with the chef — grill, food, tables for the show, cleanup — and everything leaves with the chef. Your rental's kitchen never opens.
Not sure your space works? Send a photo with your quote request and we will confirm the setup spot before your date.
What we actually buy
Beef: USDA Choice Angus top sirloin. Choice is the grade above Select. We buy Angus program beef rather than whatever is cheapest that week.
Shrimp: BAP-certified. Best Aquaculture Practices — an independent certification covering the farm, the hatchery, the feed and the processing plant.
Salmon: Atlantic salmon fillet, skinless. Portioned fillet, not trim or belly offcuts.
Chicken: Boneless, skinless breast. Hatched, raised and harvested in the USA. Breast meat only — no thigh substitution.
Lobster tail: Wild-caught Caribbean spiny lobster. Our premium upgrade. Wild-caught, not farmed.
Sauces: Terry Ho’s yum yum sauce and Japanese ginger dressing. The ones you already recognise from the restaurant. Both contain egg.
Allergies: Our standard soy sauce is not gluten free, so a gluten-free guest should have their own gluten-free soy and teriyaki on hand and we'll cook their portion with it. We can't promise a nut- or sesame-free table — the sauces and gyoza are commercial products, the gyoza contain sesame, and one sauce is made in a plant that also handles peanuts. Tell us the allergy when you book and we'll check the labels in use for your date.
Popular Big Bear Lake parties
Cabin Group Weekends. The friend-group rental with eight bedrooms and a hot tub. Hibachi night is the one meal nobody has to plan, shop for, or clean up after.
Ski-Weekend Dinners. Off the slopes at four, chef on the deck at six. Hot food, a fire show in the cold air, and no drive back down to the village for a table.
Summer Lake Birthdays. Boat day, then the grill lights up on the lakefront deck as the sun drops behind the ridge.
Family Reunions. Three generations in one big rental, and a dinner that keeps the kids at the table — the egg toss and the onion volcano do most of that work.
See how each celebration plays out: birthdays, pool parties, family reunions and more party ideas.
Where we set up in Big Bear Lake
Moonridge & Slope-Side Cabins. The big rentals near the resorts with wraparound decks. The grill sets up on the deck or the driveway pad; the show plays to the whole group at once.
Lakefront Homes. Boulder Bay and the north shore — docks, lawns, and decks that face the water, with the sunset behind the show.
Lake Arrowhead A-Frames. Steep lots and tiered decks. We need one level 6x8 ft spot with clearance above it, and most Arrowhead decks have exactly that.
Why Big Bear Lake hosts book us
Big Bear is where Southern California goes when a group wants one house, a lot of bedrooms, and a deck. Ski weekends, summer lake trips, family reunions in a rented A-frame — and every one of them has the same problem on the second night: twelve people and one small cabin kitchen. A private hibachi chef fixes that. We cook on the deck, the fire show happens against the pines, and the cabin kitchen stays closed.
We come to Big Bear Lake, Big Bear City, Moonridge, Fawnskin, Sugarloaf, and across the mountain to Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, and Crestline. $59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum, with the mountain travel fee calculated from your address and shown in your quote before you pay.
Big Bear Lake hibachi FAQ
Do you come up to Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead?
Yes — we come to Big Bear Lake, Big Bear City, Moonridge, Fawnskin, Sugarloaf, Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, and Crestline. The mountain is past our free 50 miles, so a travel fee applies at $1 per additional mile, calculated from your address and shown in your instant quote.
Can you cook on a cabin deck?
Yes, on decks, driveways, and patios — we need a level spot about 6x8 ft with roughly 10 ft of clearance above the grill. In winter the spot needs to be cleared of snow before the chef arrives.
What does a Big Bear hibachi party cost?
$59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, kids under 5 eat free, with a $599 event minimum — chef, grill, food, live show, setup, and cleanup included — plus the travel fee shown in your quote. Monday–Thursday parties with 15+ guests get the $45.90/adult Weekday Special.
Do you cook in the snow?
We cook year-round on the mountain. Book an earlier start in winter so the cooking happens in daylight, keep guests near the deck heaters, and let the fire show do the rest.
How much space do you need in Big Bear Lake?
About a 6x8 ft flat area for the grill plus roughly 10 ft of overhead clearance, in open air — a patio, deck, driveway, or yard all work. Enclosed rooms and covered balconies do not. Send a photo when you book and we'll confirm the setup spot before your date.
Is this an indoor or outdoor party?
The cooking is outdoors; the eating does not have to be. A live teppanyaki grill throws real smoke and grease and will set off a smoke alarm indoors, so the grill always stays outside — on a patio, deck, driveway, yard, or roof terrace, with about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Your guests can absolutely sit and eat inside. Plenty of Big Bear Lake parties run exactly that way: the chef cooks on the patio and plates come indoors, which is what we'd suggest on a hot afternoon or a cold night.
Can we book a lunch or daytime slot?
Yes. Because the party is outdoors, the right answer depends on your city and the season — midday stays comfortable near the coast for most of the year, while inland and Valley cities are best at lunch roughly October through May and better at sunset in high summer. Daytime slots are usually easier to get than weekend evenings. Tell us your date and preferred time and we'll tell you honestly whether it works.
What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours before your event and your $19.90 deposit is refunded in full. Inside 72 hours the deposit may become non-refundable. If rain is the problem, a 10'x10' pop-up tent over the chef's station usually saves the party — you provide the tent, we do not supply them — and guests can eat indoors while the chef cooks outside.
