Parking, stairs & setup
Vista is beyond our free 50-mile radius, so the quote carries one travel line at $1 per mile past that (about $36 to central Vista) and nothing else changes. Rural addresses in Bonsall and Buena Creek can be hard to find after dark; send a gate code or a landmark and we plan an earlier arrival.
Inland North County is warmer than the coast in summer, and a 6:30 or 7 pm start works well from June through September. We need a flat area about the size of a king-size bed and roughly 10 ft of overhead clearance; for gravel, dirt, or turf we bring a mat.
Not sure your space works? Send a photo with your quote request and we will confirm the setup spot before your date.
Space & weather plan
We need a flat outdoor area about the size of a king-size bed and about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Best evening months in Vista: July through October; best lunch months: May through November.
July averages a high of 73°F against 62°F in January. No month here averages above 93°F, so Vista takes daytime bookings comfortably across most of the year. Rain is worth planning around in March, when about 34% of days see measurable rain — a 10×10 pop-up tent over the chef station saves the party, and guests can eat indoors. Evenings run longest in June (sunset around 8:00pm); start 90 minutes before sunset for the golden-hour show.
Travel: about $36 on a Vista booking — the first 50 miles are free, then $1 per mile, and the exact amount is shown in your quote before you pay.

What we actually buy
Beef: USDA Choice Angus top sirloin. Choice is the grade above Select. We buy Angus program beef rather than whatever is cheapest that week.
Shrimp: BAP-certified. Best Aquaculture Practices — an independent certification covering the farm, the hatchery, the feed and the processing plant.
Salmon: Atlantic salmon fillet, skinless. Portioned fillet, not trim or belly offcuts.
Chicken: Boneless, skinless breast. Hatched, raised and harvested in the USA. Breast meat only — no thigh substitution.
Lobster tail: Wild-caught Caribbean spiny lobster. Our premium upgrade. Wild-caught, not farmed.
Sauces: Terry Ho’s yum yum sauce and Japanese ginger dressing. The ones you already recognise from the restaurant. Both contain egg.
Allergies: Our standard soy sauce is not gluten free, so a gluten-free guest should have their own gluten-free soy and teriyaki on hand and we'll cook their portion with it. We can't promise a nut- or sesame-free table — the sauces and gyoza are commercial products, the gyoza contain sesame, and one sauce is made in a plant that also handles peanuts. Tell us the allergy when you book and we'll check the labels in use for your date.
Popular Vista parties
Graduations. Rancho Buena Vista, Vista High, and Cal State San Marcos families in May and June, hosting relatives who drove down from Los Angeles and up from San Diego.
Family Reunions on Acreage. Bonsall and Buena Creek properties hold forty. Two chefs, two grills, and everyone eats at once instead of in shifts from a buffet.
Reunion Weekends at a Vacation Rental. One night of the trip when nobody has to cook or find a restaurant for twenty. Tell us the address and any house rules; we handle the rest.
Retirement & Milestone Dinners. Marine and Navy families from Camp Pendleton celebrate the milestone at the house, with the show as the entertainment.
See how each celebration plays out: birthdays, pool parties, family reunions and more party ideas.
Where we set up in Vista
Hillside Ranch Properties. Gravel drives, packed-dirt pads, and terraces with a view. We bring a mat, set the grill on the flattest spot, and the tables go where the shade and the view are.
Shadowridge & Tract-Home Patios. Most patio covers sit below the 10 ft of clearance the grill needs, so the chef sets up just past the cover's edge and your guests stay under it.
Vacation Rentals. Check the listing for outdoor-cooking and quiet-hour rules, send them to us, and the chef plans the layout around them. Cleanup is included, so the house is left as you found it.
Why Vista hosts book us
Inland North County has the properties for a real backyard party: hillside ranches in Buena Creek and Bonsall with avocado trees and a view, Shadowridge tract homes with covered patios, and vacation rentals that families book for a reunion weekend. A chef setting up on the flattest spot and feeding thirty people from one grill is the easiest way to host out here.
We cook throughout Vista, San Marcos, Bonsall, Fallbrook, inland Oceanside, and Carlsbad. Flat rate $59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, and kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum, setup and cleanup included. Travel is free for the first 50 miles and $1 per mile after that, so your quote shows one small, fixed travel line and nothing else changes.
Vista hibachi FAQ
Is there a travel fee to Vista?
A small one. Travel is free for the first 50 miles from our base and $1 per mile after that, so central Vista comes to about $36. The exact amount for your address shows as one line on your quote and nothing else changes.
We are staying at a vacation rental. Can you cook there?
Yes, as long as the listing allows outdoor cooking. Send us the address and the house rules, and the chef plans the layout around quiet hours and the rental's outdoor space. Cleanup is included.
Our property is gravel and dirt, not a patio. Does that work?
Yes. The grill needs a level spot about the size of a king-size bed; we bring a mat for gravel and dirt, and the chef sets up on the flattest area you have.
What does hibachi at home cost in Vista?
$59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, and kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum — chef, grill, 2 proteins per guest, garlic fried rice, vegetables, salad, the live show, setup, and cleanup included. Weekday Special pricing ($54.90/adult, Mon–Thu, any party size) applies here too.
How much space do you need in Vista?
A flat area about the size of a king-size bed for the grill plus roughly 10 ft of overhead clearance, in open air — a patio, deck, driveway, or yard all work. Enclosed rooms and covered balconies do not. Send a photo when you book and we'll confirm the setup spot before your date.
Is this an indoor or outdoor party?
The cooking is outdoors; the eating does not have to be. A live teppanyaki grill throws real smoke and grease and will set off a smoke alarm indoors, so the grill always stays outside — on a patio, deck, driveway, yard, or roof terrace, with about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Your guests can absolutely sit and eat inside. Plenty of Vista parties run exactly that way: the chef cooks on the patio and plates come indoors, which is what we'd suggest on a hot afternoon or a cold night.
Can we book a lunch or daytime slot?
Yes. Because the party is outdoors, the right answer depends on your city and the season — midday stays comfortable near the coast for most of the year, while inland and Valley cities are best at lunch roughly October through May and better at sunset in high summer. Daytime slots are usually easier to get than weekend evenings. Tell us your date and preferred time and we'll tell you honestly whether it works.
What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours before your event at no cost. Inside 72 hours we may not be able to refund in full. If rain is the problem, a 10'x10' pop-up tent over the chef's station usually saves the party — you provide the tent, we do not supply them — and guests can eat indoors while the chef cooks outside.
