Parking, stairs & setup
Simi is hot from June through September, so we recommend a 7 pm start; the show runs about 90 minutes and guests eat as it cools. Santa Ana winds in October are the other thing to plan around, and the chef places the grill so the breeze carries away from the table.
Simi Valley sits right at the edge of our free radius, so some addresses carry a small travel line at $1 per mile past 50; the quote shows the exact amount. We need a flat area about the size of a king-size bed on hardscape or packed ground; for gravel, dirt, or turf we bring a mat.
Not sure your space works? Send a photo with your quote request and we will confirm the setup spot before your date.
Space & weather plan
We need a flat outdoor area about the size of a king-size bed and about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Best evening months in Simi Valley: April through November; best lunch months: April through June and October through November.
July averages a high of 88°F against 64°F in January. No month here averages above 93°F, so Simi Valley takes daytime bookings comfortably across most of the year. Rain is worth planning around in March, when about 27% of days see measurable rain — a 10×10 pop-up tent over the chef station saves the party, and guests can eat indoors. Evenings run longest in June (sunset around 8:07pm); start 90 minutes before sunset for the golden-hour show.
Travel: about $9 on a Simi Valley booking — the first 50 miles are free, then $1 per mile, and the exact amount is shown in your quote before you pay.

What we actually buy
Beef: USDA Choice Angus top sirloin. Choice is the grade above Select. We buy Angus program beef rather than whatever is cheapest that week.
Shrimp: BAP-certified. Best Aquaculture Practices — an independent certification covering the farm, the hatchery, the feed and the processing plant.
Salmon: Atlantic salmon fillet, skinless. Portioned fillet, not trim or belly offcuts.
Chicken: Boneless, skinless breast. Hatched, raised and harvested in the USA. Breast meat only — no thigh substitution.
Lobster tail: Wild-caught Caribbean spiny lobster. Our premium upgrade. Wild-caught, not farmed.
Sauces: Terry Ho’s yum yum sauce and Japanese ginger dressing. The ones you already recognise from the restaurant. Both contain egg.
Allergies: Our standard soy sauce is not gluten free, so a gluten-free guest should have their own gluten-free soy and teriyaki on hand and we'll cook their portion with it. We can't promise a nut- or sesame-free table — the sauces and gyoza are commercial products, the gyoza contain sesame, and one sauce is made in a plant that also handles peanuts. Tell us the allergy when you book and we'll check the labels in use for your date.
Popular Simi Valley parties
Graduations. Royal, Simi, and Santa Susana High families in June, with grandparents in from out of town and a yard that holds everyone.
Retirement Parties. First-responder and city families celebrate the milestone at the house, with the neighbors invited and the show as the entertainment.
Family Reunions on Horse Property. Bridle Path lots hold forty. Two chefs, two grills, and everyone eats at the same time.
Wood Ranch Milestone Birthdays. Twenty-five guests on the pool deck, the fire show after sundown, and no private room to book.
See how each celebration plays out: birthdays, pool parties, family reunions and more party ideas.
Where we set up in Simi Valley
Bridle Path & Horse Property. Flat acreage with gravel or packed dirt near the house. We bring a mat, set the grill on the flattest spot, and the tables go wherever the shade is.
Wood Ranch Covered Patios. Most covers sit below the 10 ft of clearance the grill needs, so the chef sets up just past the cover's edge and your guests stay under it. HOA quiet hours are easy to clear with an evening start.
Texas Tract & Older Ranch Houses. Deep, fenced, level yards with a poured patio and a side gate that clears our grill cart. Twenty-five guests fit without touching the lawn.
Why Simi Valley hosts book us
Simi Valley backyards come in two sizes: big and bigger. Bridle Path horse property has flat acreage, the older tracts have deep fenced yards with a poured patio, and Wood Ranch homes have covered patios and pool decks built for entertaining. A chef cooking in front of thirty people is about the most natural use of a Simi yard there is.
We cook throughout Simi Valley, Moorpark, Santa Susana Knolls, and the Chatsworth and Thousand Oaks borders. Flat rate $59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, and kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum, setup and cleanup included. Travel is free for the first 50 miles and $1 per mile after that, so your quote shows one small, fixed travel line and nothing else changes.
Simi Valley hibachi FAQ
Is there a travel fee to Simi Valley?
Travel is free for the first 50 miles from our base and $1 per mile after that. Simi Valley sits right at that edge, so some addresses carry a small travel line and some carry none; the quote shows the exact amount and nothing else changes.
Our yard is horse property with gravel and dirt. Can you cook there?
Yes. The grill needs a level spot about the size of a king-size bed; we bring a mat for gravel and dirt, and the chef sets up on the flattest area you have.
Can you handle 40 guests?
Yes. One chef serves up to 28 guests; past that we send a second chef and grill so everyone eats together. Give us the count and the quote reflects it.
What does hibachi at home cost in Simi Valley?
$59.90 per adult, $29.90 per child 5–12, and kids under 5 eat free, $599 event minimum — chef, grill, 2 proteins per guest, garlic fried rice, vegetables, salad, the live show, setup, and cleanup included. Weekday Special pricing ($54.90/adult, Mon–Thu, any party size) applies here too.
How much space do you need in Simi Valley?
A flat area about the size of a king-size bed for the grill plus roughly 10 ft of overhead clearance, in open air — a patio, deck, driveway, or yard all work. Enclosed rooms and covered balconies do not. Send a photo when you book and we'll confirm the setup spot before your date.
Is this an indoor or outdoor party?
The cooking is outdoors; the eating does not have to be. A live teppanyaki grill throws real smoke and grease and will set off a smoke alarm indoors, so the grill always stays outside — on a patio, deck, driveway, yard, or roof terrace, with about 10 ft of overhead clearance. Your guests can absolutely sit and eat inside. Plenty of Simi Valley parties run exactly that way: the chef cooks on the patio and plates come indoors, which is what we'd suggest on a hot afternoon or a cold night.
Can we book a lunch or daytime slot?
Yes. Because the party is outdoors, the right answer depends on your city and the season — midday stays comfortable near the coast for most of the year, while inland and Valley cities are best at lunch roughly October through May and better at sunset in high summer. Daytime slots are usually easier to get than weekend evenings. Tell us your date and preferred time and we'll tell you honestly whether it works.
What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours before your event at no cost. Inside 72 hours we may not be able to refund in full. If rain is the problem, a 10'x10' pop-up tent over the chef's station usually saves the party — you provide the tent, we do not supply them — and guests can eat indoors while the chef cooks outside.
